Cookie policy

Everything reviewtal.com stores on your device, and the cookies the retailer sets after you leave.

Short version: reviewtal.com sets almost nothing. There is no advertising cookie here, no analytics of our own, no fingerprinting and no profile of you being built anywhere on this site. What follows is the complete list.

What this site stores on your device

Name Kind What it is for How long
rv_cookie_ack Local storage Remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every page. Until you clear your browser storage
WordPress session and security values Cookie Only set if somebody signs in to the site’s admin area. A reader never receives one. Session, or up to 14 days for a signed-in editor
Cache and page-delivery values Cookie Set by the hosting platform’s caching layer so pages are served quickly. They carry no identifier of you. Minutes to hours

That is the whole list. Nothing here is used for advertising, and none of it is sold, shared or joined up with anything else.

What happens when you press a code control

This is the part worth understanding. Pressing a code or deal control opens the retailer’s site on a second tab through an affiliate network’s tracking link. At that moment the network and the retailer set their own cookies on their own domains, so that if you buy, the sale can be attributed back to reviewtal.com and the referral fee paid.

Those cookies are not ours. We cannot read them, we do not receive their contents, and they live under the network’s and the retailer’s privacy policies, not this one. What we eventually see is a line in a monthly report saying a sale happened — never who you are, what you put in the basket, or what you paid.

Turning it off

Every browser can block or clear cookies, and most can block third-party cookies specifically. Doing that does not stop this site from working: nothing on reviewtal.com is gated behind a cookie. It will stop a referral being attributed, which costs the site money and costs you nothing — you are welcome to do it.

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Prevent cross-site tracking
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

The cookie notice at the foot of the page is dismissed with one press. Because there is nothing here to consent to beyond what the table above lists, it does not ask you to choose between categories of tracking that do not exist.

Do Not Track

There is nothing here to honour a Do Not Track signal against — we do not track. The signal is passed on to nobody because nothing about your visit is passed on to anybody.

Changes

If this site ever adds analytics or any other measurement, this page and the notice will say so before it is switched on, not after. Questions to hammad@reviewtal.com.
