Coupon code policy
The IAB Voucher Code of Conduct v4.0 and Awin's publisher code set against what this site actually does.
This board is run to the IAB UK Voucher Code of Conduct v4.0 and to Awin’s Publisher Code of Conduct, with the FTC’s endorsement and disclosure guidance applied on top because the audience is in the United States. Rather than assert compliance, the table below sets each obligation next to what this site actually does, so it can be checked against the pages themselves.
| The obligation | What Reviewtal does |
|---|---|
| Vouchers must be clearly distinguished from offers that need no code (Code 2.1) | Every card carries either a dashed code chip labelled with the first characters of the code, or a plain “No code” control. The deals page can be filtered to one or the other, and the counts for each are shown separately on every store page. |
| Key terms and the expiry date must be immediately visible (Code 2.2) | The end date and the principal conditions are chips on the front of every card at every screen width. Only the longer detail sits behind “See details”, which is an ordinary HTML disclosure element and works without JavaScript. |
| Vouchers must be kept up to date and expired ones removed (Code 2.2) | An offer leaves every list and every count on the day it ends. It sits in a labelled “Ran out recently” block on its store page for 21 days, carrying noindex, then it is unpublished by a daily job. |
| Metadata must not produce misleading search results (Code 2.2) | Page titles and descriptions are generated from the live counts and the store’s real best offer. No page claims a code exists when the board has none, and expired pages are excluded from search indexing. |
| A consumer must be told when an action will redirect them (Code 2.3) | A line of text sits directly beneath every control, before it is pressed, naming the retailer’s domain and saying a second tab will open. The reveal window repeats the terms alongside the code. |
| Commercial relationships must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously (FTC; Awin Publisher Terms) | A bar under the masthead on every page, a line above every list, a note beside every control, and a full affiliate disclosure page linked from the footer. |
| Outbound commercial links must be marked (search-engine guidance) | Every tracked link carries rel="nofollow sponsored" and target="_blank" with noopener. |
| Information must be accurate and current (Awin CoC rule 8) | Headlines, conditions and dates come from the retailer’s own feed. Nothing is embellished. Where the site describes its own routine it describes the routine the code actually performs. |
| Restricted sectors must not be promoted (Awin CoC rule 6) | Vaping, tobacco, cannabis and CBD, adult, gambling, weapons, prescription pharmacy and high-cost credit are excluded by a keyword and domain screen run over every advertiser name, domain, offer title, body and terms before anything is imported. |
| Publishers must not use a brand’s marks misleadingly | No retailer’s logo is reproduced anywhere. The mark beside a store name is a plain type tile generated here from the store’s name. Brand names are used only to say whose offer it is. |
Things this board will not print
- Star ratings, review scores or “x people used this today” counters. Nothing is measured that way, so nothing is claimed that way.
- “Verified today”, “tested this morning” or any similar stamp.
- Invented prices or invented “was” figures.
- Testimonials, because there are none.
- Countdown timers that are not driven by the retailer’s own end date.
- Exclusivity claims, unless the retailer’s own feed marks an offer exclusive.
If something here breaches one of those codes
Write to hammad@reviewtal.com, quote the page, and it will be fixed or the card pulled. Affiliate networks and compliance teams can use the same address and will get a reply from the person who runs the site rather than a ticketing system.
